TRA 2024 2

The Transport Research Arena (TRA) is the largest transport and mobility research and innovation (R&I) conference in Europe. TRA 2024 is taking place on 15-18 April in Dublin, Ireland.

Under the overarching theme of “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility”, TRA will cover all modes of transport: road, rail, waterborne, aviation, and cross-modal aspects. It will include a broad spectrum of R&I activities, ranging from basic research to application-oriented engineering, social, technical and economic aspects, as well as policies and standards.

Organised every two years, TRA is the foremost European transport event that covers all transport modes and all aspects of mobility. This year, around 4,000 participants travelled to Dublin for #TRA2024.

TRA gathers stakeholders from all transport networks (road, rail, waterborne and aviation). The event offers a great venue for researchers, decision- and policy-makers, and industry representatives to get together and contribute to the discussion on how R&I can reshape the transport and mobility system. It provides a unique opportunity to hear about mobility trends and challenges in different parts of Europe, learn from achievements in industry, as well as share best practices of policies and deployments.

FRONTIER was thrilled to be a part of this largest European research and technology conference on transport and mobility sharing the significant results of its 3-year work with the researchers, policy makers and industry representatives in the transport area. FRONTIER proudly had its Final Event, co-organised with the "sister" ORCHESTRA Horizon 2020 project, at the TRA 2024 on 18/04 1:30-3:30 PM hosted in a uniquely beautiful RDS Concert Hall! The event was organised as a Lunch and Learn Session: Multimodal and Resilient Traffic Management of the Future. Find more information about our Final event here.

Our experts presented the work done in the project in the following sessions:

- AI and data-driven approach for next generation traffic management to be presented by Georgia Gkioka, ICCS – Technical Session 4.1.2 AI and Machine Learning (Wednesday, 17 April 2:30 PM – 3:45 PM)

- Accelerating Cross-Stakeholder Collaboration with Modern Traffic Management Systems and Strategies to be presented by Antulio Richetta, Arcadis IBI Group – Technical Session 2.1.7 Traffic Management & Control (Tuesday, 16 April 9:45 AM – 11:00 AM)

Last but not least, FRONTIER shared a stand with the Multimodal Traffic Management Cluster Horizon 2020 projects (ORCHESTRA, TANGENT, DIT4TraM, ACUMEN, SYNCHROMODE and DELPHI). Our experts were there to welcome all the interested participants, to demonstrate and discuss the FRONTIER's concepts and results.
